The Compliance and Notices page is a dedicated section in the Vantaca Home portal that shows homeowners their violation and collections items in one filtered list, separate from other request types. It is a read-only view for homeowners. They cannot create compliance items from the portal, but they can view details, read communications, and reply to messages. This article describes what the page does, what controls visibility, what homeowners see in the detail view, and the action item configuration that affects the page.

What the Compliance and Notices Page Does
The Compliance and Notices page gives homeowners a dedicated, filtered view of their violation and collections items. It is separate from the Requests page and the Inbox, though the same items appear in the homeowner's Inbox under the Needs Attention filter.
From this page, homeowners can:
- View a list of their open compliance items with subject, status, and date issued.
- Filter by category: All, Collections, or Violations.
- Click a row to open the detail view with full item information and message thread.
- Reply to messages from your management team.
- Toggle Unread only to limit the list to items with unread messages.
Note: Homeowners cannot submit new compliance items from this page. Violations and Collections are created by your management team in Vantaca. The page shows open items only.
What Appears on the Page
The page includes only action items whose action category is Violations or Collections (case-insensitive). All other action item categories are excluded. Items with a missing or unrecognized category name do not appear.
Each row in the list shows:
- Subject: The action item subject line. This is what homeowners see, so use clear, descriptive subjects when creating violations.
- Status: The current step or status of the item.
- Date: The date the notice was sent.
Items are sorted by most recent activity. Filter counts reflect open items only.
The Detail View
When a homeowner clicks a compliance item row, the detail view opens on the Details tab by default (unlike the Inbox, which defaults to the Messages tab). The detail view has two tabs.
Details Tab
Shows the full information for the item:
- Subject
- Status: Displays as a status badge.
- Category: Violations or Collections.
- Item Number: The XN number for the action item.
- Date Issued
- Property
- Description: The full description of the compliance item.
- Attachments: Any files attached to the item by your management team.
Messages Tab
Shows the full message thread for the item. Homeowners can read all communications and send replies. When replying, homeowners select which role or roles receive the message from the recipients available on the current action item step. The Back to Compliance and Notices link at the top of the detail view returns the homeowner to the list.
How Compliance Items Reach the Portal
Compliance items appear in the homeowner's portal automatically when a Violations or Collections action item is created and associated with the homeowner's account. There is no separate portal publishing step. The item is visible to the homeowner as soon as the action item is created, subject to the Hide From Portal setting on the step.
Items can be created through these methods:
- Inspections: Violations created during a property inspection in Vantaca or the Manage app are automatically associated with the homeowner's account and appear in the portal.
- Individual violations: Violations created manually from the homeowner's account in Vantaca (Homeowner Profile > Action Items) appear in the portal once created.
- Collections: Collections action items associated with a homeowner's account appear on the Compliance and Notices page when their category is Collections.
Configuration Notes
The Compliance and Notices page is part of the standard Vantaca Home portal structure. It does not appear in the Portal Pages list and cannot be turned on or off per association. The following action item settings directly affect what homeowners see.
Action Item Category
The action item must have action category set to Violations or Collections to appear on this page. Items in other categories do not appear here regardless of their content.
Action Item Subject
The action item subject line is what homeowners see in the list. Use clear, descriptive subjects. For example, a subject like 'Yard debris: follow-up notice' is more useful to a homeowner than a generic or internal reference. The subject also appears in any email notifications sent to the homeowner.
Hide From Portal
If a step has Hide From Portal selected in the action step rules, the item does not appear in the homeowner's Compliance and Notices page or Inbox while in that step. The item becomes visible again when it advances to a step without Hide From Portal.
Portal Reply Recipients
When homeowners reply from the Messages tab, they select which role or roles receive the reply from the recipients available on the current step of the action item. The recipient list is configured on the step. Make sure the steps where you expect homeowners to respond have appropriate recipient roles available so the homeowner has a reply option.
Description
The description field on the action item appears in the Details tab of the homeowner's portal view. Include clear information about the violation, the CCR rule referenced, and any required corrective action.
Attachments
Files attached to the action item appear under Attachments on the Details tab. Use attachments to share photos taken during inspection, copies of CCR rules, or other supporting documents with the homeowner.
Mimic Mode and Compliance Items
To confirm a compliance item is visible to the correct homeowner, mimic the homeowner from their profile in Vantaca and navigate to Compliance and Notices in the left navigation menu. For instructions, see the "Vantaca Home: Mimic a Homeowner Portal" article.
FAQ
Q: A violation I created is not appearing on the homeowner's Compliance and Notices page.
A: Check that the action item's category is Violations or Collections (case-insensitive). Verify the current step does not have Hide From Portal selected. Confirm the action item is associated with the homeowner's property account.
Q: A homeowner says they can see a violation but cannot reply.
A: The current action item step may not have recipient roles available for homeowners to reply to. Navigate to Settings > Action Types/Steps, locate the step the action item is in, and verify the appropriate reply recipients are configured.
Q: The homeowner sees the violation in the Inbox but not on the Compliance and Notices page.
A: Both pages draw from the same data. If the item appears in the Inbox under Needs Attention but not on Compliance and Notices, verify the action item's action category is exactly 'Violations' or 'Collections' with no extra spaces or alternative casing. Items with unrecognized category names appear in the Inbox but are excluded from the Compliance and Notices page.
Q: The subject line shows confusing or internal text to homeowners.
A: The action item subject displays directly to homeowners in the portal list. Update the subject on the action item to use clear, homeowner-friendly language.
