Action type instructions give users guidance on how to complete an action item step, and can include text, images, embedded videos, or SOP documents. This article explains where instructions display, how to expand them into a resizable pop-out window, and how to edit them for a specific step.

Viewing Instructions
The Action Item modal (when you create or edit an action item) and the Change Step modal each display a Step Instructions section for the current step, if instructions exist. Click Step Instructions to expand or collapse it.
On the Change Step modal, Vantaca also displays a Next Step Instructions section showing instructions for the step you're moving to.
Popping Out Instructions
If a step's instructions include a lot of text or embedded items like videos or SOP slides, you can resize the instructions section inline, or pop it out into a separate window to view side by side while you work on the action item.
- Open the action item, or open the Change Step modal.
- Click Step Instructions (or Next Step Instructions) to expand it.
The instructions display within the modal. Drag the bottom edge of the instructions box to resize it. - Click Pop out.
The instructions open in a separate, movable window titled Step Instructions (or Next Step Instructions). - (Optional) Resize or move the pop-out window as needed.
Note: Closing the pop-out window doesn't close the Action Item or Change Step modal. Closing the modal (by completing the action, clicking Cancel, or clicking the X) closes the pop-out too.
Editing Instructions
To edit instructions for a specific step:
- Navigate to Settings > Action Types/Steps.
- Locate the action type and click the caret to the left of the category to expand and display its steps.
- Find the step you want to edit and click Rules.
- On the Edit Rules screen, click Instructions on the left side.
- Make your changes and click Save Instructions.
