Vantaca Manage App: Map Pin Management

Every property in Vantaca has a map pin, the location the Manage app map uses to place it. Occasionally that pin lands in the wrong spot or is hard to find on the map. In rare cases, a property might not have a pin at all. Now your team can fix a pin themselves, right on the map.

Required Permissions

This capability is controlled by the Edit Map Pins permission. Grant it to any role on your team that should be able to correct pins, typically inspectors and property managers.

Navigate to Settings > Roles, open the role, select its Security tab, and add Edit Map Pins.

Anyone without this permission sees the map exactly as before: they can browse, search, filter, and tap markers to open the property card, just without the option to move or add a pin. If someone on your team expects to see this option and doesn't, check their role's permissions before assuming something is wrong.

Moving a Misplaced Pin

Any team member with the Edit Map Pins permission can correct a pin's location:

1. Go to Associations, select the association, and on the Properties tab tap View Map.
2. Find the property with the incorrect pin and tap its marker.
   A card slides up showing the address, owner, and status badges.
3. Tap Edit Map Pin Location.
   The banner at the top will show Edit Map Pin for followed by the address. On a crowded map it's easy to tap a neighboring property by mistake, and this banner is a way to check before moving anything.
4. Drag the map until the marker in the center sits over the correct spot.
   The marker itself is fixed at the center of the screen. If the team member is standing at the property, tapping the recenter arrow jumps the marker straight to their GPS location instead.
5. Tap Update Pin to save immediately, or Cancel to back out without changing anything.

Can't Find the Pin?

A pin that's off-screen or badly misplaced can be hard to spot. Search for the property by address or owner name instead (either the main search bar or the Add Map Pin button both work), select it, and since the property already has a pin, you'll land in the same edit flow as in the previous procedure. If the pin turns out to be far from where the team member is actually standing, tapping the recenter arrow jumps the map back to their current location so they can drag from there.

Adding a Missing Pin

A property with no pin at all shows a No map pin badge and has no marker to tap. To add one:

1. On the map, tap Add Map Pin, the button above the recenter control.
   With no search text entered, the list shows every property in the association that doesn't have a pin yet, sorted by address. Search by address or owner name instead to jump straight to a property.
2. Select the property.
   The banner will show Add New Map Pin for followed by the address, and the marker starts at the team member's current location.
3. Drag the map to fine-tune the marker's position if needed.
   The marker is fixed at the center of the screen, the same as when moving an existing pin.
4. Tap Save Pin, or Cancel to back out without changing anything.

Once saved, that property card now offers Edit Map Pin Location going forward, and the property no longer appears in the unpinned list. Selecting a property that already has a pin from this same search takes the team member straight into edit mode, so every property ends up with exactly one pin.

Working Offline

Both moving and adding a pin work fully offline, so your team can make corrections in the field even without a signal. The change saves to the device right away, and the app uploads it automatically the next time it has a connection. A team member can navigate away, close the app, and reopen it, and the change is still there waiting to sync.

If the same property's pin is corrected more than once before it uploads, only the final position is sent. Earlier edits aren't stacked or replayed.

Things to Know

• No undo: If the wrong pin gets moved, just correct it again (there's no revert option).
• No confirmation prompt: Update Pin and Save Pin save right away, so a correction takes one tap.
• One pin per property: Every property keeps exactly one pin, however your team gets to it.
• Moves the property, not individual items: Violations, work orders, and ARC requests automatically follow the property's pin, so there's nothing extra to position.

FAQs

Q: What if a team member doesn't see Edit Map Pin Location or Add Map Pin?

A: They likely don't have the Edit Map Pins permission. Check their role under Settings > Roles.

Q: What happens if a correction doesn't save?

A: If Vantaca rejects a change (for example, the property was deleted), the pin reverts on its own. This isn't caused by being offline, offline changes stay queued and upload once the device reconnects.

Q: Why can't one team member see another team member's correction right away?

A: This only happens if the correcting device was offline when the change was made, since the update stays queued until it reconnects. Once it uploads and the other device syncs, the correction shows up for everyone. If both devices are online, the correction appears right away.
